Overview
Patchogue is an incorporated village within the Town of Brookhaven, on the south shore on Patchogue Bay. It borders East Patchogue to the east, Blue Point to the southwest, and North Patchogue to the north. The nearest LIRR station is Patchogue, on the Montauk Branch, 0.2 miles from the center. Scheduled time on board to Penn Station runs 86 to 94 minutes on weekday morning trains.
The village counts 5,797 homes, with about 48% detached single-family houses and the remainder made up of smaller multi-unit buildings and larger apartment structures. Three-bedroom homes are the most common size in the village.
Rider Avenue Park is about 1.1 miles from the center, and Shorefront Park is about 1.2 miles away; both sit within the area's list of named parks and preserves. Corey Beach, on Patchogue Bay, is roughly 1.3 miles from the center. FEMA estimates that about 25% of Patchogue village's mapped area sits in a high-risk flood zone, with about 1% in a moderate-risk zone.
As an incorporated village, Patchogue handles its own zoning, building permits and certificates of occupancy through the Village of Patchogue Building Department at Village Hall. The Town of Brookhaven Receiver of Taxes mails the town portion of property tax bills, while the village bills its own tax separately each year. PSEG Long Island delivers electricity and National Grid supplies natural gas; water in most of the village comes from the Suffolk County Water Authority. The Patchogue-Medford Union Free School District serves the area, and the district for a specific address is set by its tax bill.

District lines are drawn independently of hamlet and ZIP code lines, so two houses with the same mailing address can sit in different districts.
Distances are straight-line from the centre of the town, not driving distance. Many town beaches, marinas and ramps require a resident permit. Check with the town before you go. Map data © OpenStreetMap contributors.
