Overview
Huntington Station is an unincorporated hamlet in the Town of Huntington, in Suffolk County. It borders Greenlawn to the northeast, South Huntington to the south, and Huntington to the north. Weekday morning trains from Huntington take 57 to 63 minutes of scheduled time to reach Penn Station.
Huntington Station CDP has about 11,414 homes, 78% owner occupied. About 72% are detached single-family houses, with the rest split mainly between 1-unit attached and small multi-unit buildings. About 47% of the housing stock was built between 1950 and 1969, and the typical home has three bedrooms.
Parks near the center of Huntington Station include Columbia Street Park and Fair Meadow Park. FEMA mapped data show under 1% of the Huntington Station CDP in either the high-risk Special Flood Hazard Area or the moderate-risk shaded Zone X area.
As an unincorporated hamlet, Huntington Station has no government of its own; the Town of Huntington's Building and Housing Division issues building permits and certificates of occupancy from Town Hall in Huntington. Electricity is supplied by PSEG Long Island and natural gas by National Grid, while much of Huntington Station is served by the South Huntington Water District. School district assignment depends on the address's tax bill, with the South Huntington Union Free School District and the Huntington Union Free School District both serving parts of the town.
